Enterprise Systems & Lab Control Software

Owned architecture and delivery for a public-facing roof assembly search database used industry-wide, and for a company-wide internal ERP/CRM system, while also building PLC and instrument-control software for physical lab test equipment. Led the public database's migration to Azure, refactored a core approval workflow for performance, rebuilt a broken third-party CRM integration under deadline pressure, and mentored both on-site and remote developers the entire time.

Nine years at Intertek

For nine years at Intertek I worked across two different kinds of software: enterprise business systems that ran the company's day-to-day operations, and control software for physical lab test equipment. Both required full technical ownership, from architecture through deployment and support, and both often overlapped with mentoring or managing other developers.

Enterprise systems. I was technical lead for two of the organization's core applications. One is DORA, a public roof assembly search database built for SPRI (the Single Ply Roofing Institute) in partnership with Intertek, used by roofing professionals, contractors, and manufacturers to look up wind uplift, impact, and thermal performance data across thousands of tested assemblies. I owned the architecture from the initial framework through ongoing feature work, and led its migration onto Microsoft Azure, managing the cloud infrastructure directly and coordinating delivery with a remote development team. The other is Oasis, the company's internal ERP and CRM platform (timecards, expenses, purchase orders, invoicing, CRM), where I led a performance refactor of the expense report and purchase order approval flow, built a revenue-sharing module that measurably cut manual processing time, and when a third-party CRM integration we relied on changed without warning, designed and shipped a replacement integration path under time pressure.

Control systems. I also built and maintained software for physical lab test equipment: PLC and instrument-control applications for rigs like solar calorimeters, environmental chambers, and structural and thermal test equipment, plus enhancements to the Fire Chamber testing system in York, PA. This work required more caution than the enterprise side. A test rig has real physical consequences if the control logic is wrong, so I put more time into upfront verification and worked closely with the engineers running the tests to confirm behavior before rolling out changes.

Role progression. In several of these years I mentored junior and intern developers on-site in York, PA, and gave ongoing code review and architectural guidance to a remote team in India, while independently owning delivery on DORA and Oasis. Managing that alongside my own technical work is what I want to highlight here as much as any individual system I built.
